Robinhood spent 2026 building its own blockchain, an Arbitrum layer for putting real assets on chain: stocks, funds, the private shares Wall Street keeps behind glass. Robinhood Chain went live on the first of July.

A few months earlier, its chief executive sat down on the Full Send Podcast and described where all of it ends up. You will be able to tokenize a work of art, he said. You will be able to tokenize a Picasso.

The chain arrived, and in Tenev’s own words it turned out to work great for memes. So the internet did the obvious thing with a line that good. It tokenized a Picasso on Robinhood’s own chain, and let the joke trade.

An oil painting in a cubist studio: an artist wearing a Robinhood feather paints a bronze medallion of Picasso reading Tokenized Picasso, surrounded by cubist canvases and a guitar.
